


An Experienced Professional
Katrina Olson has worked advertising, marketing, public relations, and media for more than 20 years. For seven years she operated her own regional marketing communications firm. She has also been a retail business owner, advertising manager, copywriter, creative director, and marketing and public relations director, Other professional “hobbies” have included writing for local newspapers and e-publishing a weekly marketing newsletter.
She has served in leadership roles on the boards of many not-for profit and professional organizations including the Advertising Club of Champaign-Urbana, the Executive Club of Champaign County, Champaign County YMCA, and the United Way of Champaign County. Other volunteer involvement includes the University of Illinois Willard Airport Air Service Task Force, Champaign County Chamber of Commerce, and the East Central Illinois Workforce Development Commission.
Katrina earned her Master’s in Media Communications from Webster University in St. Louis, holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Illinois, and earned a Certificate in Marketing Excellence from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A “lifelong learner,” Katrina Olson continues to grow in the field of communications through both formal and informal education, keeping current with emerging theory and practice.
She teaches Persuasive Writing at the University of Illinois; and Introduction to Advertising and Introduction to Public Relations at Parkland College. Katrina is also a corporate trainer for the Parkland College Business Development Center in addition to providing custom training, consulting, and writing services for her clients. |
